These are requirements of state law:
- You may contribute up to $400.
- The $400 maximum includes $200 for the primary election and another $200 for the general election for a total of $400 during every 2-year election cycle (i.e. from one general election to the next general election). You may contribute the full $400 even if the primary is not contested. You may make the full contribution in one payment at any time during the during the 2-year election cycle.
- You may only contribute if you are an American citizen.
- I have to report your name to the Secretary of State if you contribute $20 or more during an election cycle (but I generally itemize every contribution to avoid missing a series of contributions that total $20 or more during a cycle).
- If you contribute $100 or more during a cycle I have to report your occupation and employer. (This is so people can see if I get a lot of contributions from a particular company or industry).
- I can accept only personal contributions, not contributions from companies.
